Advantages

Having an email account has many advantages. If you need to make an appointment with a company you can now do so by email. If you work for a business and need to send out an email to many people you can do so with a couple of clicks of the mouse. If you are applying for a job and need to submit a resume it is a simple task with email. If you have a problem and are needing to find a solution by asking a question email will come in handy once again.

Disadvantages

As with everything that has advantages email also has many disadvantages. You have to make sure you are using the correct tone when sending an email. It is very easy for the receiver to take the tone or something you wrote the wrong way. Then before you know it you are getting an email shot back at you with all kinds of attitude. If you are not good at setting the tone of your emails it would be better if you just called the person on the phone.

Sometimes when a company has an upset employee working for them the employee sends out confidential information. They do this in hopes of getting even with the company for whatever they are upset about. This usually gets the employee in even more trouble than they were in before the email.

You will find more spam in your inbox that are emails. The spam is usually companies sending out advertisements in order to get you to purchase something. If you do not know who the sender is of the email then there is the risk there could be a virus attached to it. If you open the email and get the virus there is the risk that it can get your personal information.

Email and a business

Most businesses do all their memos and important documents by email. When the business is getting ready to send an email to many employees there is usually an email directory. This directory has all the employees email addresses in it. Once the email is put together it will only take a few minutes to click on the names of the receivers.

If a department needs to send an email to someone in another city they might not have the email address in their directory. In this case the department could do a quick email address search in order to find the correct address.

Security

Even if you have security installed on your computer you still run the risk of getting a bad email. There are many different ways for people to attach viruses and Trojans to an email without you knowing it. The best thing you could do if you do not know the sender is hit the delete button. There is no reason to chance opening the email or clicking on any links in the email. This just puts your computer in danger by things getting deleted or your hard drive crashing because of a virus.
